5 out of 5 stars Good stuff for the price November 22, 2007
Some might argue that this TV is not up to the 'sony/samsung' level. I believe they are entirely right. But a 47" 1080p for $1500 with a good picture, who can argue with that.

Is the new Venturer SHD7000 really competition for the superior Toshiba HD-A2 or HD-A30? The Venturer is the latest cut price HD player at Wal-mart, which talked about offering an HD-DVD player for under $200 a few months ago. Well, it's now available and at a price of $197...it's still priced right at the neighborhood of the better brand Toshiba models.

Also, lets not forget that if you buy a Toshiba, at least through the end of the year, you get 5 free HD DVDs. Hmmm, spend the same amount and get 5 free dvds, or just hand over more money to the monopolistic Wal-Mart? You decide.

Toshiba Gives Away 5 HD DVDs

It's true, Toshiba is giving away 5 free HD DVDs with every HD DVD Player purchase. Of course the player to qualify would have to be Toshiba, but absolutely any model qualifies, including their $130 discounted HD-A2 model.

Simply purchase a Toshiba Player, download their mail in form, attach UPCs and mail it off. This offer is good until March 31, 2008. So start your holiday shopping now and pick up a Toshiba HD DVD player.

The boys at Toshiba and DreamWorks have teamed up to promote HD DVDs and the result will be a high definition ad campaign for Shrek the Third. The campaign will be designed to both promote the movie being released exclusively on HD DVD and showing off just how high of quality you can expect out of HD. A double whamy partnership for Toshiba and DreamWorks, whom are known for their colorful and detailed animated films.

"Because our films are created digitally, the best way to watch "Shrek the Third" is on HD DVD," said Ann Daly, Chief Operating Officer of DreamWorks Animation. "With our films now in this format, families can get the highest quality viewing experience on their home televisions in HD."
Of course you do realize this is really just a way to get kids saying, "Mom, Dad, can we please buy an HD DVD player for Christmas." I'm sure most will be happy to oblige. ;)

It's a deal for Australians only, but it still makes US news in this amazing thing we call the world wide webs. From now until December 31 Toshiba will be giving away 10 free HD DVD's with every purchase of their pricy HD-EX1 HD DVD player.

Free HD DVD Titles:

  • World Trade Centre
  • Dream Girls
  • Black Rain
  • U2 Rattle & Hum
  • Norbit
  • The Holiday
  • Miami Vice
  • Hulk
  • Fast & the Furious Tokyo Drift
  • American Werewolf in London
Again, sorry, this deal is only for Aussies. However, if you are interested in purchasing a Toshiba HD DVD player, their primary model in the US is the HD-A30.

Toshiba LCD, HD to the Max

Resolutions so fine, so abundant, I'm fairly certain my eyes won't be able to tell the difference. Toshiba's new 22" LCD HD TV packs a whopping 3,840 x 2,400 pixel resolution that would make my optometrist blush. Are you sold yet? If the answer is 'yes', then give me your wallet and listen to this.

The Toshiba 22" LCD is only available in Japan. The price of this little toy translates into $26,000 USD, so chances are we won't see it over in the good ole US of A anyway.

Thanks to Asia CRAVE for the story.
